PLDD -Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression
PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression) is a latest treatment procedure for the treatment of discogenic spinal disc problem for neck & back pain. It is performed with local anesthesia under fluoroscopic guidance by inserting a needle into the disk. A thin optical fiber is inserted through the needle to apply laser energy to the nucleus of the disk. Laser evaporates disc materials and creates a negative pressure gredient which gradually pulls the herniation backwards into the disc. There is no incision needed and is therefore much less invasive and thus surgical risk of spine surgery is much minimized by PLDD procedure.Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression procedure is safe & approved by United States Federal Drug Administrtion ( USFDA ) for the treatment of prolapsed or herniated Intervertebral disc or pinched nurve. Institute of Laser Surgery & Hospital is the Pioneer of PLDD Procedure in Bangladesh.
